Caitlin Carter

Caitlin had childhood dreams of being in the wide-open plains of romanticized East Africa, and in 1991, as a high school student, she found herself finally there, in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Since that first trip, Caitlin has turned this love, some might call it an affliction, for travel and specifically, Africa, into a lifestyle and a career. She has lived in Africa for over 10 years in various stints as a student, researcher, safari camp manager, conservationist, and highly regarded industry consultant, all while designing safaris and trips to Africa for the better part of 2 decades.

While Africa has held her focus, specifically living in Botswana and South Africa — a shorter stint living in Costa Rica, expanded her repertoire to the amazing landscape, wildlife and people of central and south America.

Steve Ryan

Steve joins the safari industry a bit later than Caitlin after 2 decades in high-end beverage industry ( wine & beer!). Though they met in 1992, it took nearly 30 years to join forces in life and work.  Steve’s substantial career as an operations consultant in the wine industry spans from California to South Africa. This international scope demands travel and the ability to forge international relationships, so it’s been natural evolution to join the marketing and operations of Cape to Nile’s business.

He will catch up on the destinations (already has done Uganda, South Africa, Botswana and Costa Rica in 18 months), but in the meantime, his career experience brings valuable assets to the company.

Why choose Cape to Nile Global Safaris?

Simply put, our expertise and decades of traveling and designing custom itineraries is why you’re here but forget not just how important it is to make responsible travel choices. These choices entail close consideration of the quality of guides, the impact of where we spend our money (e.g., traveling responsibly and giving back), and the environmental impact. We couple this nuance with our extensive knowledge of the places, the people, and a profound network of resources in each country. Using these tools, we achieve highly curated journeys every time.

Further, the most precious resource we have is time – it’s a bustling day-to-day life we all lead – so we take seriously that your time away from home & work life is valuable and we are honored to use it wisely, and thoughtfully. Returning home feeling renewed, invigorated, and hopefully impacted for good is what motivates us to take the close care to individually design each trip. We take this seriously.

As a referral-only travel design company, we do not advertise in travel magazines. We rely upon the good word of our clients based on their actual experience and our efforts to surpass their expectations.
